They merely do not want to be punished!

Remember being that kid when one of your parents told you to eat those bits and pieces of vivid green, orange or yellow cuts of vegetables and you loathe its blandness? The next thing you know you were just forcing your jaw to push those little teeth to grind it so carefully that it will just slide down your throat through the esophagus and finally to your stomach— who also refuses to ingest it, by the way — while pronouncing the event with great revolt at the back of your mind.

Remember why did you do that? I mean, you disliked it with amusing despise. Have you lost your mind?! Have lost your senses? Your sense of what’s rightful or not kind of thing to do? All you could make sense of at that moment is the fear of impending punishment if we don’t act in accordance to what we are told to. Just it, really.

Kids do their homeworks to not get zero score but without the purpose to learn and enjoy the process.

That man didn’t jaywalked because he don’t wanna get violation tickets and sadly, think least of what good it may actually help to the proper flow of traffic both for pedestrian and vehicles instead.

They wear masks during Covid-19 pandemic lest they’ll be fined(or not be allowed to enter premises) and would care the least about the prevention of spreading infection.

Can you follow the trail of actions people are doing? We would intuitively enact instructions without realizing why we have to. People forget the essence of doing the rightful actions. They forget the purpose of why in the first place we have to do things by which any reliable standard considered it right. It is not because we are simply told to do so but instead, with the use of correct knowledge and proper judgment we knew it is the right thing to do and that it will definitely benefit common good. Simply that.

We put in limbo our capability to use factual information, little guidance from those who knew and all the satisying ways which we analyse circumstances we are currently facing.

We can relate with this little scene in so many ways. We very often don’t do things just because it is the most rightful thing to do but for the reason that you fear punishment imposed by the established system around. We never bother to think as to why we have to do it in the first place.

What is in it for us?How about we think of that way instead, rather than anticipating the doom of punishment as consequence for not doing so. In that case you may have the courage to object and reject to its enactment if you deemed it necessary.

This is just a state of mind actually like looking on the bright side. Instead of punishment, we turn our attention to reward; beneficially sweet reward.

Imagine that. When people finally start to morally internalize every action they have to make we may not longer need the existence of jobs and systems that inflicts punishments like prisons, violation fines, and reprimands because we no longer need them to tell we are wrong because you realize it before then that doing it would be wrong and there would be no good results.

Afterall, vegetables are not really bland and it is scientifically proven to be beneficial to our health. So you better eat it kiddo!
